It’s almost berry picking time in Queens County.  As children, some of us loved the activity and some of us hated it.  The girls in this photo from a century ago look like they are having some fun.  The fancy basket, Aboriginal made, probably contains a picnic lunch and the octagonal berry box is is a heritage classic.  Anyone know why berry boxes were shaped this way in the beginning?  Why did the design change?
